In Space – Take #1 – Lights, Camera, Action!

This week’s topic – A book where at least a scene is set on space.

For this topic I chose:

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

I will present you characters from all the books, not only the first one. I chose the actors that I thought they were ideal for the role. It was kind of hard to choose the one who would play Kai’s role so I decided to sit him out for this one.

I honestly love this series and got me through a terrible reading slump. The four books are very very fast paced, the epilogue book is great (yes, there is a book for only an epilogue and a few other short suprise stories) and the graphic novels are worth buying!

Let’s not delay this any further, alright? Ready, set go!

Lana Condor as Lihn Cinder

Cinder has a slight, thin build, naturally tanned skin, and straight brown hair below her shoulders, which is usually worn in a messy ponytail. Her left hand and leg are made of metal, the prostheses on her leg going up to mid-thigh, as well as four ribs and splints along the bones in her right leg.

For Cinder the choice was hard as well. There were a lot of talented actresses and none fitted the description. I found Lana out of the blue with a Netflix trailer on “to all the boys I ever loved before” and I was like “THIS IS CINDER!”

Zendaya as Iko

Iko is primarily made up of spare, disposable parts with dark brown skin and different shades of blue in her braided hair

Zendaya was my first pick for Iko and she remains my favorite. She is a great actress to perform sassy and witty characters. She’s got to be Iko.

Sophie Turner as Scarlet

Scarlet is curvy and 5’6” tall. She has big brown eyes, full lips, curly, unruly ginger-red hair to her mid-back and lots of freckles on her face.

Y’all probably know Sophie starring as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. Like Sansa, Scarlett is tomboy, brave, courageous and has nerves of iron. Not that I read or watched GoT, I just googled it (lol). Anyway, for Sophie playing Scarlett won’t be an issue.

Amanda Stenbleg as Winter

Winter is 5’9” tall and slender, but with enviable curves, extremely graceful limbs and a long neck. She has warm, dark brown skin with three long scars on her right cheek, high cheekbones, and full ruby-red lips. Her hair is in thick, black, tight corkscrew curls that fall to just below her shoulders. Her eyes are bright caramel-colored, with hints of slate-gray around the pupils and emerald flecks.

Played Rue in the Hunger Games and now will be the main character in the just released film “The Darkest Minds”. She acquired an amazing talent from little. She would be perfect for the part. Besides, don’t you think she looks EXACTLY like Winter?

Elle Fanning as Cress

Cress has “the longest, waviest, most unruly mess of tangled blonde hair imaginable.” This is because of it not being cut since she was put in the satellite. Cress has “a sweet heart-shaped face, giant sky-blue eyes and a sprinkle of freckles across her nose.”

Choosing who would play Cress was not hard. I watched Maleficent a couple of years ago, Elle Fanning played the role of Aurora and did great. To play another princess again would be easy peasy. Besides, Elle looks like a cinnamon roll from the outside but looks like she could actually crush you. Just like Cress.
